The New 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been considered one of the best Jeeps on the market since the 1990s, and the new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is no exception. Jeep has broadened its lineup of Grand Cherokees to include family haulers, off-road adventurers, and supercharged track machines. With so much choice available, there’s a Grand Cherokee for everyone. Keep reading for an overview of the 2021 Grand Cherokee and a breakdown of its ten trim levels.
Engine and Performance
The Grand Cherokee comes standard with a 3.6-liter V-6 engine with 295 horsepower. Buyers can upgrade to a 5.7-liter, 360-hp V-8 on lower-end models. The special SRT and Trackhawk models come with their own engines. The SRT uses a 6.4-liter V-8 which produces 475 horsepower while the Trackhawk’s supercharged V-8 produces 707 horsepower. Fuel economy varies between 19 MPG city and 26 highway on the standard V-6 and 11 MPG city and 17 highway on the Trackhawk. The Trailhawk and all V-8 models come with all-wheel-drive, while it is available as an option on other models. The Grand Cherokee has high towing power for its class. The V-6 models can pull 6200 pounds and the V-8 models can pull 7200.
Interior and Storage
With so many trim levels available, the Jeep interiors range from standard to luxurious. Seats come in cloth and several different leather trims. The standard touchscreen is 5 inches, but higher-end trims have an 8.4-inch touchscreen. All models come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A six-speaker audio system is standard, but buyers can upgrade to premium stereos from Boston Acoustics, Alpine, or Harmon-Kardon. The trunk has ample space – enough for 11 standard suitcases. Rear seats fold down in one easy action, allowing for even more storage space.
The 2021 Grand Cherokee AWD models earned a perfect five-star safety rating from the NHTSA. All models come with Jeep’s ProTech safety package, which can be upgraded to add even more adaptive safety features.
Grand Cherokee Trim Levels
The new 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes in a whopping ten separate trim levels, one for every taste and budget. These range from the standard Laredo model to the supercharged Trackhawk.
The Laredo comes standard with Jeep’s ProTech safety package. This includes blind spot monitoring, rear park assist, and a backup camera. It also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Jeep’s popular Freedom editions pay tribute to the car’s origin as a military vehicle. The new 2021 Grand Cherokee Freedom edition comes with a special flag door decal. It rides on 21-inch matte black wheels and includes extra security features and a unique black interior with tungsten stitching.
The Laredo X increases the size of the touchscreen to 8.4 inches and upgrades the front seats to be black leather-trimmed and heated. An available Altitude Appearance Package adds black aluminum wheels and black exterior accents.
The Grand Cherokee Limited adds a single-pane power sunroof. Or you can upgrade to the Sun and Sound package, which combines a dual-pane sunroof and an upgraded nine-speaker Alpine Audio stereo.
Ride in style in the Limited X with new perforated leather heritage seats inspired by Jeep models of the past. The Limited X also features 20-inch black aluminum gloss wheels and a special sport hood with two heat extractors.
80th Anniversary Edition
The 2021 Jeep lineup celebrates 80 years of classic automobiles. This edition features special badging and a host of luxury features. Wheels and exterior accents are finished in a special granite crystal material. The 80th Anniversary Edition also includes the second level of the ProTech safety package. It adds adaptive cruise control with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
The Trailhawk model is built for off-road action. It comes with tow hooks, special badging and interior accents. Most importantly for off-road adventurers, it adds Jeep’s Quadra-Drive II 4×4 System with rear electronic limited slip differential. This system can transfer engine torque to a single wheel, allowing off-road drivers to escape sticky situations.
While the Trailhawk excels in the dirt, the Overland model is built for the open road. The dual-pane sunroof lets the light stream in. A brown leather interior with heated seats front and back ensures passenger comfort in any weather. Jeep’s Quadra-Lift air suspension system allows you to raise and lower ground clearance at will, with five different settings available for different weather and terrain. A nine-speaker premium audio system also comes standard.
The Summit model features a premium leather interior with scuff-resistant door sills. It also ups the audio quality once more with a 19-speaker system from Harman-Kardon.
The SRT model is built for power, with a 6.4-liter, 475-horsepower V-8 engine and wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The cabin features racing-inspired leather seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Exclusive satin carbon aluminum wheels and available high-performance brakes help you stop in style.
The Trackhawk is one of Jeep’s most powerful SUVs ever. Its supercharged V-8 engine with Launch Control features means it reaches 0-60 in only 3.5 seconds. Leather performance seats and yellow Brembo brakes complete the track package.
